The week ahead: Abortion vigil, Newman talks, canonisation tickets

Cincinnati Catholics will be praying to end abortion tomorrow, in the weekly event at Holy Name Catholic Church, 2448 Auburn Avenue. Mass will be said with the special intention of praying for the women and workers at the Planned Parenthood clinic on Auburn Avenue. Exposition and a rosary procession to the clinic will follow, and then Benediction.

The London Oratory is hosting a series of talks on Blessed John Henry Newman, ahead of his canonisation in three months’ time The talks will be given by Fr Michael Lang at 8pm in St Wilfrid’s Hall. The next one is on Wednesday, July 24.

Registration has also opened for Newman’s canonisation, which will take place on October 13 at 10am. The website newmancanonisation.com, where pilgrims can book individual or group tickets, says that around 20,000 places are available. Seats, however, are not guaranteed: these “will be available to whomever arrives first for the Mass”.
