The canonisation of Blessed Carlo Acutis that was set to take place on 27 April has been suspended due to the death of Pope Francis.
"Following the death of the Supreme Pontiff Francis, it is announced that the Eucharistic Celebration and the Rite of canonisation of Blessed Carlo Acutis, scheduled to take place on 27 April 2025, Second Sunday of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday, on the occasion of the Jubilee of Teenagers, is suspended," the Holy See Press Office announced on 21 April.
Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church for 13 years, died at the age of 88 years old on Monday following a stroke that led to heart failure.
