Christian leaders have spoken out following the July 7 attack by Israeli settlers on the 5th century Church of St. George in Tabyeh, a town in the West Bank with a Christian majority. The attack also damaged the Christian cemetery next to the site.
In a statement during a visit to Tabyeh, the Council of Patriarchs and Heads of Churches of Jerusalem asked for the prayers, attention and action of the world, “particularly that of Christians globally”.
They said Taybeh suffered from an “intensifying trend of systemic and targeted attacks against them and their presence” when attacked on July 7.
