Vatican publishes first report from its child protection commission: finds transparency a 'persistent concern'

The Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors (PCPM) has published its first report as part of a global analysis of the Church’s efforts around abuse prevention and stopping clerical sexual abuse of children and any subsequent cover ups.

The new annual report from the Vatican’s safeguarding body found that there remains what it described as a persistent lack of transparency in the Roman Curia, and hence it calls for a more transparent and streamlined process for handling abuse case in the administrative institutions of the Holy See through which the affairs of the Roman Catholic Church are conducted.
